Population registration certificates
Here you can print or request a population registration certificate. A population registration certificate is an extract from the Swedish Population Register. It shows the information recorded about you, such as your name, address and civil status. Keep in mind that a population registration certificate cannot be used to prove your identity.
Find the right population registration certificate
- Our e-service “Find the right population registration certificate” will help you to find the population registration certificate you need.
- You can print some population registration certificates yourself, but some others you have to order by post.
- If you need a population registration certificate for your child, you request it by post by clicking “Receive by post”. This option will appear when you are using the e-service. The population registration certificate will then be sent to the address listed for your child in the Swedish Population Register.
- If you are 100 years old or more, you cannot request a population registration certificate by selecting the “Receive by post” option. Instead, please fill in the online contact form on our webpage about accessing public records and information. This information is in Swedish. Alternatively, please call the tax information service and we will help you.

Population registration certificates involving protected identity
If you have protected identity
If you have protected identity yourself, you can print out a population registration certificate if it only contains information about you. If this population registration certificate also contains information about someone you have a family relationship with, you will need to call and speak to a case administrator in our confidientiality group.
The opening times of our protected identity telephone helpline are Monday to Friday from 09.00 to 15.00.
If a close family member has protected identity
In some cases, you might need to request a population registration certificate through our tax information service even if you don’t have protected identity yourself. This applies if a close family member (a legal guardian, parent, child, spouse or registered civil partner) has protected identity, and information about them will be included on your population registration certificate.
The opening times of our protected identity telephone helpline are Monday to Friday from 09.00 to 15.00.
If you have a coordination number
If you have a coordination number, you cannot request a population registration certificate. You can get a written statement instead, confirming that you have a coordination number. You will need to call our tax information service to request this type of written statement.
