If someone has reported a move to your address
If someone reports moving within Sweden to your registered address, you may receive a letter about it from the Swedish Tax Agency. You will then have the opportunity to confirm whether or not this person lives at your address.
If you get a letter from us
If you receive a letter stating that someone has reported a move to your registered address, you have the opportunity to confirm whether or not this person lives at your address. If several people are registered at your address, only one of them will receive the letter. If you do not have a digital mailbox, we will send a letter to your address by post.
The letter will state who has reported a move to your address
We will send out the letter on this person’s reported moving-in date. The letter will show who has reported a move and the moving-in date they have given. If several people have reported a move to your address, you will receive a separate letter for each person over 16 years old. You will then need to provide a separate response for each person.
Confirm whether or not the person concerned lives at your address
There are two response alternatives . If the person concerned lives at your registered address, respond “yes”. If this person does not live at your registered address, respond “no”. If you respond no you also have the opportunity to leave a comment. We will then continue to investigate where this person should be registered.
How to provide your response
You can respond via our e-service Lämna svar när någon har anmält flytt till din adress or by calling our tax information service.
Keep the following in mind: you can only respond if you have received a letter from us
- if you have received several letters, you must provide a separate response for each person who has reported a move to your address
- you can submit your reply between the reported moving-in date and the last response date stated in the letter
If you cannot use the e-service, you can provide your response by calling our tax information service. You will need to state your personal identity number and the control code given in the letter.
You have three working days to respond
The letter will state the deadline for responding. It is important that you respond as soon as possible so that we can take a quick decision in the matter. You will not receive a notification of our decision, but we may contact you if we have any further questions.
If you do not provide a response
If you do not respond, the Swedish Tax Agency will assume that the information in the notification is correct. In most cases, the person concerned will then be registered as living at your address after the deadline has passed.
Did you forget to report a change of address?
If you have moved, it is important that you report your change of address so that you can be registered at the correct address.
In some cases, we do not send a letter There are some circumstances in which the Swedish Tax Agency does not send out a letter. This might be the case if:
- no one is registered as living at the address in question
- the registered occupant has notified us themselves of a move to their address
- the change of address notification relates to someone under 16 years old
- the property in question has apartments without designated apartment numbers
- either you or the person moving has protected personal data
- we have been notified of a move to Sweden
