One kind of identity fraud is when an unauthorised party registers a change to your listed address in the Swedish Population Register. There are several ways to prevent this.
If you have a digital mailbox, you will receive a message from us if you or someone else registers a change to your listed address in the Swedish Population Register. The Swedish Tax Agency can also issue a follow-up letter digitally if someone reports a move to your address. You will then be given the opportunity to confirm whether or not this person lives at your address.
If you block unauthorised change of address notifications, this means you have to use the Swedish Tax Agency’s e-services if you need to register a change of address or notify us of a special postal address. The Swedish Tax Agency will carry out verification checks on any notifications we receive on paper.
For added security, you can use the free address lock e-service (“Adresslåset”) provided by the Swedish change of address service, Svensk Adressändring. The address lock e-service will block any unauthorised forwarding or storage of your post.
If you log in to our e-service “Representatives and authorisation” (“Ombud och behörigheter”, in Swedish), you can choose to block the registration of representatives through the use of a paper application form. When you have activated the registration block, no unauthorised party can use a paper form to apply for authorisation as your representative. You will not be able to use paper forms either. If you wish to register a representative, you will need to do this by logging into the e-service “Representatives and authorisation” (“Ombud och behörigheter”) with your Swedish eID.
You reduce the risk of identity fraud by activating the registration block.
If you lose your ID card, you must call 010 331 10 10 immediately to block it so that no one else can use it. To block a Swedish Tax Agency ID card, call
